In the era of low-energy and passive houses, which are practically airtight, indoor air quality is becoming a critical parameter. Yet in many projects the issue of removing dust and allergens is still left to consumer electronics. Data and medical experts, however, confirm that healthy living requires a systemic approach, not just a mobile helper.

Today's population spends up to 90% of its time indoors. A home that should be a safe haven can paradoxically become a reservoir of invisible threats: dust, dust mites and organic contaminants. Doctors warn: Conventional vacuuming can make the situation worse

Many investors assume that a premium stick or robot vacuum with a HEPA filter solves the problem. Allergists, however, point out the technological limitation of these devices – recirculation.

"Unsuitable vacuuming can actually stir allergens up, whereas central vacuums remove them completely from the living space," explains MUDr. Tomáš Slisz, a specialist in the diagnosis and treatment of allergic diseases and asthma.

The problem is simple: a mobile vacuum sucks up dust but blows the filtered air back into the room. Even the best filter lets the finest particles (micro-dust) through, and the outgoing airflow stirs them up to breathing height.

Hard data: Central system vs. conventional vacuum

A Perfect Crowd survey of more than 1,000 Czech households produced a clear comparison of the effectiveness of the two solutions:

• 96% of allergy-affected households with a central vacuum report reduced symptoms.
• 44% experienced significant relief from allergy symptoms.
• Only 6% of users of conventional bagged vacuums noticed an improvement in their condition.

This huge difference comes from the underlying technology. A central vacuum does not recycle dust; it carries it through pipework to a power unit in a utility room. After filtration, the air is exhausted permanently outside the building. There is therefore no counter-flow or dust turbulence in the living space.
